2. Early C19 and early C20 parts added to an earlier cottage. Cottage now on garden front to east: 2 storeys with cellar; 2 parallel ranges; 2 windows; roughcast. Early C19 building added on to the west of this and now forming entrance front. Brick. 2 storeys. 3 windows with hipped slate roof and overhanging eaves. Sash windows with glazing bars intact; 1 window below with "Gothic" tracery [and 3 similar windows behind]. Doorway flanked by pilasters with glass passageway over it and extending towards entrance gate further west. In the north and in slight recession, an early C20 addition. Grey brick. 2 storeys. 5 sash windows. Slate roof. Overhanging eaves. Fanny Burney's sister Mrs Phillips lived in this cottage. Fanny Burney stayed here in the early months of 1793 and was married from the cottage in July 1793.
