Details
CORFE CASTLE EAST STREET (East side) SY 96 82 7/26 Ottaway's Pottery Shop and adjoining house (formerly 20.11.59 listed as The Gift Shop) GV II House, part used as shop. Probably late C18. Rubble stone walls, stone slate roof, brick stack near centre. Main block of one storey and attic. In left end gable wall a shop door, and C20 shop window with glazing bars. One casement with centre horizontal glazing bar in attic over. On main elevation, at left end, a square bay shop window with glazing bars and simple moulded cornice. Right of this 2 sashes with vertical glazing bars under asymmetrical brick arches. Attic has 2 hipped dormers, one with casements, one with horizontally sliding sashes - both with glazing bars. Left of the main shop, a C20 extension behind a stone (former garden) wall. In this a glazed shop door and small shop window with glazing bars. (RCHM, Monument 37. Dorset. Vol. II).
