SE 10 NW UPPER STUBBIN 4/376 (Stubbin Lane, Hinchliffe Mill)

Curlew, Holly and Hawthorn Cottages GV II

Dwellings, part of group. C17 origin rebuilt early to mid C19. Coursed millstone grit, part rendered, and hammer dressed stone. Quoins. Stone slate roof with finial to south-east. Two storeys. South-west elevation: ground floor: original doorway (part blocked) with chamfered surround and Tudor arch in deep lintel, inscribed: RC 1678 Entrance and 2 single lights. First floor: 4 single lights. North-east elevation (rendered): ground floor: early doorway chamfered with quoins and deep lintel with Tudor arch. Two large single lights with chamfered surrounds (probably C19). First floor: 4 single lights as ground floor. Hawthorn cottage: ground floor: entrance and one 3-light stone mullioned windows. First floor: one 5-light stone mullioned window. To north-west gable is single storey lean-to extension.
