House. Early C17 with late C20 alterations and addition. Partly rendered, partly
dressed coursed stone, slate-hung gables to front, asbestos slate roof, rendered
stack on ridge at left end, further rendered C20 stack to front at right. Single
depth plan with C20 rear left addition. The building is the former higher end and
through passage of an early C17 2 or 3 room plan. The early C17 house has been
entirely rebuilt below the through passage and the lower end is now a separate
property. 2 storeys. 3-bay front, the right-hand bays slightly advanced and
unrendered, the left hand bay whitewashed and rendered. Front right outshut forms
porch. Early C17 doorway with ovolo-moulding and urn stops. Ground floor windows
C20 2- and 3-light casements with glazing bars under timber lintels. First floor
windows centre and right only are 3-light C20 casements, 6 panes per light in
slate hung gabled dormers. Interior: Ground floor room left has large fireplace
with decorated plaster overmantle dated 1621 with the initials "WW". Late C20
painting on plaster overmantle. Plaster moulding of vine runs along rear of room.
House said to have had decorated plaster first floor ceiling which collapsed late
C20.
