House, now in 2 occupations. Late C16. Large dressed stone, stone slate roof. 3-room, through-passage house. 2 storeys. Windows to south front are double chamfered mullioned with a deep splay and hollow chamfered mullions. Reads 3-light window with hoodmould with straight return partly obscured by porch with 2 doorways protecting original door entry which has deep straight lintel, composite jambs and wide stop chamfered surround. 3-light window partly over porch. 8-light housebody window with hoodmould which continues over 4-light parlour window. Over is 8-light and 3-light window. One stack to ridge backs on to through passage. Right hand return wall carries dressed stack below ridge and has 2 inserted doorways and cross-window to ground floor. Two 3-light windows to 1st floor, one with hoodmould. Northern end of return wall carries well dressed stack in single storey outshut. Left hand return wall has 3-light window to 1st floor. Coped gables which have carved ball shape to apex. Rear has similar door to front at end of through passage now altered to window. To right a 5-light window. A 3-light window to 1st floor to left. Other inserted windows and doorway. Rear of outshut under catslide roof has 5-light window. Interior: Division wall between housebody and parlour is board and muntin panelled wall (partly obscured). Housebody has scarf jointed spine beams (evidence of former bressumer), and large basket arched fireplace with joggled skewbacks and cyma moulded surround of similar character to that to Lower Ashes, Ashes Lane (q.v.) and probably of C18 date as is fine stair which has turned oak balusters and raised and fielded panelling. Built into outbuilding is part of fireplace lintel decoratively inscribed 'W M I', formerly in the parlour. Some of the window stones are marked with the letter 'E'.
