Details

CORFE CASTLE EAST STREET (West side) SY 96 82, SY 96 81 7/56 No. 32 (Cotters Pound) 20.11.59 GV II Cottage in terrace. Of 2 builds. Left section a C18 cottage, right section the former coach-house to No. 30 (q.v.) - largely rebuilt 1962 and extended at rear 1962 and 1968. Left section has rubble stone walls. Thatched roof. One storey and attic. Ground floor has 3 casements with horizontal glazing bars; one of these in former doorway, with pair of ledged doors below. Attic has 2 dormers, one with horizontally sliding sashes with glazing bars; the other with 2 windows, one similar horizontally sliding sash, and one casement with glazing bars. Right section has rubble stone walls and stone slate roof, stone stack at left end. Ledged door under stone pentice. Ground floor has 2 sashes with centre glazing bars. Attic has 2 pent-roofed dormers with similar sashes. Internally, in left section, one large open fireplace with timber lintol and bread oven. (RCHM, Monument 81. Dorset. Vol. II).
