Details
TQ 2881 NE CITY OF WESTMINSTER HARLEY STREET, Wl 45/11 (East side) 10.9.54 Nos. 110 and 112 G.V. II Terraced town houses. c.1777 Portland Estate development, probably by John White in partnership with the plasterer Thomas Collins (associates of Sir William Chambers). Stock brick with stucco ground floors; slate roofs. 4 storeys, basement and dormered mansard. 2 windows to No. 110 and 3 to No. 112. Broad semicircular arched doorways to right in rusticated surrounds, No. 110 with Coade stone vermiculations and head keystone. Recessed sashes, under flat gauged arches to upper floors. 1st floor plat band and sill band, cornice over 2nd floor and modillion cornice and blocking course. Early to mid C.19 cast iron balconies to 1st floor. Cast iron plumbed spike area railings. Good interiors with top lit stone geometrical staircases with wrought iron balustrades, flute, patera and rinceau. friezes, stucco mythological relief medallions a la Chambers over inlaid marble Ionic columned or pilastered chimneypieces; mahogany doors etc; rather more elaborated than the norm for these 1770s speculative 1st rate Harley Street houses.
