TQ 2881 NE CITY OF WESTMINSTER HARLEY STREET, Wl 45/97 (West side) 14.1.70 No. 49 G.V. II Corner terraced town house. 1901 by F.M. Elgood. Fine red brick with Portland stone dressings and banding; slate roof. Free Queen Anne style. 4 storeys, basement and dormer in steeply pitched mansard. 2 windows wide to main storeys with balanced asymmetry in the narrower entrance bay to right corbelled out through 1st and 2nd floors. Recessed semicircular arched porch dressed with stone blocks, voussoirs and keystone rising to corbel table cornice. Left hand bay has ground floor window advanced with tripartite sash in Gibbs surround, spaced voussoirs and keystone rising with cornice which acts as base to shallow, stone, bowed 1st floor window flanked by blocked Ionic columns and with cornice and shallow semi-dome; 2nd floor has recessed 2 light sash with cornice. The corbelled out entrance bay has small leaded light Venetian window to 1st floor and leaded 2 light casement to 2nd floor. Bracketed cornice over 2nd floor with parapet over entrance bay. Top floor has 3 architraved windows. Overhanging eaves on wrought iron brackets. Corniced dormer. Wrought iron, scroll finialed area railings and squat, bulbous, stone column piers with ball finials. Plain return with carefully arranged asymmetrical fenestration.
