Details

BOBBINGTON C.P. LUTLEY LANE (south-east SO 89 SW side) 4/3 The Dower House (formerly listed as "Outbuildings 10.1.73 at Leaton Hall") GV II House. C17, remodelled probably in 1754 renovated in the late C20. Red brick; plain tile roof; brick lateral stack to rear with lozenge section shafts. Aligned north-south facing east. 2 storeys and gable-lit attic with dentilled eaves band and central pedimented gable. 3 windows, C20 casements. Door to left with cambered head and brick dripstone. Central octagonal cupula with lead covered dome and keyed semi-circular arched openings, surmounted by weathervane dated 1754. C20 gabled extension to the right. Rear stair turret attached to the chimney stack, with crow-stepped gable c.f. Bobbington Hall [q,v.] 2-light chamfer mullioned windows to first floor at the rear with mullions and frames rendered to imitate ashlar. Interior. Newel staircase in the stair turret; cross walls of square panelled timber framing; chamfered and stopped ceiling beams.
