2 houses, formerly part of old poorhouse (q.v. house adjoining the Old
Cartaret Arms) C17. Whitewashed, rendered. 1 rendered, 2 brick chimneys, slate
roof. Rear wing of old poorhouse facing yard of pitched stones, single depth plan.
Hydeaway has been extended at right end, and has further flat-roofed addition at
right end. Old poorhouse range comprising Cob Cottages and left end of Hydeaway 2-
storey, 4-window front, all windows 2-light casements, 6 panes per light. Buttress
between Cob Cottages and Hydeaway. Gabled porches with slate roofs and vertical
boards in gables to and Hydeaway, and Cot Cottages. Cob Cottages has 2 large
ground floor fireplaces with fireplace beams, straight cut stops to ground floor
room left, runout stops to fireplace beam ground floor room right. Interior of
Hydeaway not inspected. Included for group value.
