Details

UPLYME ROAD 1. 1357 (South West Side) Braeside. Nos 1 and 2 Spring Cottages SY 3392 3/219 II 2. C18 to C19. 2 storeys. Colourwashed fronts. Slate roofs. Braeside is at south end. Garden front to Braeside has 1 dormer and moulded eaves cornice which continues round front gable end. 2 widely spaced sash windows with glazing bars intact on 1st floor; on ground floor, bay window to left hand, and, to right hand, casement window with margin lights. Gable end to road has later 3-light splayed bay on both floors; sash windows; to right again, panelled door within wood trellis porch with gable; at right hand end, and in recession, a further bay with sashes on both ground and 1st floors. No 1 Spring Cottage has 3-light splayed bay windows on each floor to left and right of centre doorway; sash windows. Trellis porch with gable; modern door. No 2 Spring Cottage has 4-panelled door within gabled porch at left hand end; to right hand, splayed 3-light oriel bay window with sashes with glazing bars on 1st floor supported on metal columns; on ground floor, a sash window 4 panes wide. A later lean-to addition at right hand end has splayed 3-light bay window. A spring or well still exists.
