II Water mill. Incorporating remains from circa 1500, largely rebuilt 1647 and C18 and C19. Stone rubble, partly rendered. Slate roofs with gabled ends. Two separate ranges with connecting wing to south west; the Mill House comprises the north-easternmost part of the northerly range. Rendered 3-storey and attic 2 window bay front; 4-pane sash windows; doorway to right of centre with recessed glazed door; small loft door in gable; lean-to outshut on right. North-west facing front of southern range oftwo storeys in two sections, north section lower; stone rubble with slate roof; north section has loft door in gable and door below. Interior: Roofpurlin dated 1797. Some late C18 wooden and late C19 cast-iron water mill machinery remains including:- Late C18 [circa 1790's] large vertical timber shaft carries late C18 timber crown-wheel and circa 1880's cast-iron spur-wheel and wallower; hurst-frame much altered but contains some 1790's fabric; remains of three pairs of mill stones; later sack-hoist worked from the late C18 shaft. Green glazed Medieval ridge tiles have been found in the building. Recent archaeological work indicates that there are five phases of water wheels and four phases of floor levels. From 1500 to 1740 the mill was owned by the Lyme Regis Town Council and accounts for the mill are extant. Slate roofs, Mill House comprises the north-eaeternmost part of the northerly range. 3 storeys and attic 2 window bays. Rendered front. Small loft door in attic storey. Sash windows without glazing bars. Centre doorway. North-west facing front of southern range of 2 storeys in 2 sections, north section lower. Stone rubble with slate roof; north section has loft door surmounted by gable in centre with another door, below. Interior contains wood and cast iron water mill machinery. Roof purlin dated 1797.
