4/22 Lodge and Gatepiers and Gates on Lyme Park Drive

Lodge, gate piers and gates: C.1860 perhaps by A. Darbyshire for William Legh.
Lodge: Squared buff sandstone with sandstone dressings and coped, Kerridge stone-slate roof with moulded kneelers and 2 stone chimneys. Jacobean. 2 storey over basement. L-shaped in plan with projecting gabled front to left, having canted bay with plain parapet below. Above is 2-light wooden, mullioned and transomed window and single light in gable. Similar windows in remainder. Chamfered doorcase in left end.
Gate piers: Ashlar buff sandstone. Square in section on simple moulded plinth. Long rectangular panels on each face. Shaped and curved capstone, supports ball finial. Plain low wing walls carry spear railings and similar dog bars. Pair of similar gates but with lock rail and 2 panels of St Andrew's bracing.
