1/106 Cross about 1 metre west of 29.9.61 lych gate of Church of St Morwenna GV II

Cross. Celtic. Granite. About 50 centimetres of cross shaft and alisee patee cross carved with circles in relief on each arm and in centre. The truncated shaft stands on 3 granite steps. The reverend R S Hawker (q.v. church'and vicarage) is said to have brought the cross to Morwenstow in 1851 from the moor, where it may have been a pilgrim cross, to commemorate his first wife, Charlotte (q.v. church). The shaft is carved with the initials C E H. The cross is illustrated in the Hawker memorial window in the church.
