9/95 Wheelsgate 9.6.59 II

Farmhouse. Probably early C17 or earlier, with C18 and early C19 alterations. Heavily timber framed. Main range clad in pinkish-red brick in Flemish bond, wing and "stair turret" clad in chequered red and grey brick. Plain tile roof. Main range probably lobby entry plan, or adapted to it, with cross-wing to right which projects forward slightly, with 2-storey stair turret (?) to right of it, integral with brickwork. 2 storeys, wing with garret. Plat band to wing and turret. Plain parapet to main range. Main range half-hipped to left, wing half-hipped to front, stair turret gabled. Multiple brick ridge stack to centre of main range. Large projecting stack to right wall of wing, behind "stair turret". Irregular fenestration of 3 windows; one 2-light casement towards centre, (to left of stack), and one taller 3-light casement to right in main range. 2-light garret casement to wing and 16-pane first floor glazing bar sash with segmental relieving arch. One 2-light casement with segmental head to each floor of "stair turret". Stable door with segmental head beneath left-hand window. Panelled door with 2 top lights under stack, with flat corniced hood. French doors to wing with flat hood on consoles. Interior not inspected.
