STANHOPE MARKET PLACE NY 9939 (North side) Stanhope
34/229 Walton tomb about 10 metres south of Church of St.Thomas on east side of path GV II Headstone. Commemorates Ann and Michael Walton, died 1763 and 1770, aged 87 and 80. Moulded, square-topped sandstone slab, about 1½ metres high, with inscription: 'He that like us/hath numbered fourscore years/must need be weary of this vale of tears/desire to be translated/to the place where we/shall ever see our saviour face/cease from sorrows here/yea cease from sin/and a Blest eternity begin/below our cares are done/all our accounts are even/and now we are gone/(obscured by earth) heaven.
