SE 01NW RIPPONDEN (former U.D.) (off) HALL GREEN LANE SE 042174 Near Royd Farmhouse and 5/53 attached barn - - II
House and attached single-aisled barn, late C17. Rubble brought to course, rough dressed quoins, stone slate roof. 2 storeys to east front, single storey outshut or aisle to rear. 2 cells each having 5-light double chamfered mullioned windows with chamfered mullioned windows of 7 lights and 4 lights to 1st floor. Barn attached to left hand end has quoins and cart entry with straight lintel carried on slight corbelled jambs similar to Old Chamber, Spencer Lane, Hebden Royd (q.v.). Rectangular ventilators. Rear of barn has aisle which breaks forward from house and has quoined angles, rectangular ventilators and cart entry with wooden lintel. Mistal doorway to aisle has quoined lintel to right of doorhead inscribed The initials of John IW AH 17 1 75 Wheelwright who once owned many of the farms in the area. House has modern porch and flat faced mullioned windows of 2 and 3 lights and 4-light window in keeping.
Interior of barn has triangular truss without struts or king-post carried on post with curved brace to the tie beam. Large heavy arcade plate and wall tie. 2 stacks to ridge of house.
