Part of Hastings Water Works. c1900. Ped brick, first floor of east front roughcast. Brick cornice above ground floor. Wooden modillion cornice above first floor. Slate roof. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic in gable ends. 7-window bays north and south, 3-window bays east-west. Gable to east and west masquerading as a pediment with round attic window. Segmental-headed windows, tall ones on ground floor and near lunettes above. One storey wing of 4 windows to north and taller engine house of c1930 beyond that. INTEPIOR: not inspected but reported as containing within the main hall of the red brick engine house one of two original 410hp Tangye inverted vertical triple expansion engines of 1904, and within the northern 1930's building the original Worthington-Simpson pumping engine of 1940.
