Details
WOMBOURNE C.P. BEARNETT DRIVE (south-side) SO 89 SE 5/141 Bearnett House 23.9.81 II Large house. 1854. Red brick with painted stone and plaster quoins and dressings; fish-scale tile roof with plain tile bands and ogee shaped gables with finials; brick ridge stacks with polygonal shafts. Jacobean style. East front. 2 storeys with moulded eaves cornice. 1:1:1 bays, mullioned and transomed windows with leaded panes and first floor moulded sill band; central gabled break with loggia porch of 3 keyed semi circular arches and pierced balustade, first floor bow window with strapwork parapet and keyed blind oculus above. Central half-glazed door and flanking mullioned windows all with keyed fanlights and flanking pilasters. South front. 2 storeys with moulded eaves cornice. 1:2:1 bays, mullioned and transomed windows with first floor moulded sill band; central recess and projecting gabled wings to left and right, each with a 2 storey bay window with strapwork parapets and keyed blind oculus above. Set- back single-storey rear wing to left. Interior. Central T-shaped staircase with turned balusters and elaborate newel finials. Front room south has floor to wall wood panelling, moulded plaster cornice and decorative plaster ceiling with pendants; decorative timber overmantle to stone fireplace. Central room south has a stone fireplace with 4-centred arch, dentilled cornice and decorative ceiling. Back room south has floor to ceiling wood panelling, stone fireplace with 4-centred arch and ornamentalovermantle; decorative plaster ceiling.
