WOLSINGHAM LEAZES LANE NZ 03 NE (North end, off) Wolsingham 22/375 Stable block of Fawnlees House and mounting, block GV II
Stable block and coachman's house, with mounting block, now garage and house. Dated 1843. Painted rough render with ashlar dressings; Welsh slate roof with ashlar and brick chimneys; stone-flagged roof on left extension. T-plan with left extension. Main building: 2 storeys, 7 bays, the central wider and projecting under low gable. Central boarded double vehicle entrance under fanlight with vertical glazing bars in elliptical-headed arch with keystone and stepped voussoirs; dated 1843 on keystone. Pivoted light above in similar surround has glazing bars and radial head. Boarded door in plain stone surround at centre of right 3 bays; 2-light windows at right and in all first-floor bays have flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills, as have 3 ground-floor sashes, with paired lights, in left part; those in outer bays have segmental heads. Hipped roof has brick chimney over left ridge and octagonal ashlar chimney with plinth and cornice on right ridge. Central weather-vane has large bronze fox finial, partly eroded at time of survey.
Left set-back extension one storey, 3 bays, with boarded vehicle door at left; central boarded door, and right sash with late C19 glazing bars, have flat stone lintels and projecting stone sill.
