Built 1886. Red brick building on the corner with Mount Street. Asymmetrical with tall square corner tower surmounted by lead dome aid wooden cupola with weathervane.
Corner pilasters die into walls above ground floor. Stringcourses. Lancet windows on three storeys with segmental brick heads and keystones. Three gables come forward in the elevation to left of towe. Slate roofs. moulded cornices. Decorated fields with plasterwork to pediments in gables. Two windows in left hand gable under segmental heads and with plaster surrounds. Sashes with glazing bars. Two windows under central gables with segmental heads, dripmoulds and keystones. Further pair of windows set back between gables. Entrance doorway with plain moulded brick surround and cornice band with decorative volutes contains the lettering "Mary : St : Memorial : Schools". Pedimented tablet to left with "Built A.D, 1886". Elevation to Mount Street has a tall pedimented facade with cartouche over a large mullioned and transomed second floor window. Corner tower has important townscape value.
Mary Street House, the Lawn, Unitarian Chapel and the School, Mary Street, form a group with all the listed buildings in Mount Street and Vivary Park. Wilton House in Hammets Walk, and Nos 1 to 14 (consec) Upper High Street.
