GV II
House. Early C18 with c.1900 additions, and c.1925 alterations. Thin courses of squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and quoins and rendered plinth; 1900 rear wing rendered. Stone flagged roof with gable copings. L-plan. 3 storeys, 4 bays, the windows in groups of 2. Circa 1925 metal casements in raised stone surrounds with alternate-block jambs. Roof has gable copings on moulded kneelers; corniced ashlar end chimneys. Added porch on left return. Interior: left room has wide segmental-arched fireplace with voussoirs flattening out over jambs; stop-chamfered beams in this room over stucco cornice. Right wall panelled, with arched surround to central keyed round-headed cupboard doors concealing solid brick pier. Right room entirely panelled, with shell-hooded corner cupboard in right wall, and stucco cornice; ceiling underdrawn. Rear open-well stair, the flight along the rear wall, has open string and panelled narrow grip handrail on 2 fat column balusters per tread. First floor left room has painted wood chimneypiece with enriched lugged architrave, pulvinated frieze with central Aurora panel, egg-and-dart-moulded cornice, and side droplets. Many C18 doors of 2,3, or 4 raised and fielded panels and original hinges.
Wide queen-post roof has swept principals and butt purlins.
