Village hall and wall extending in front of the hall

School, now parish church, and wall with railings extending in front. Dated 1823, altered early C20. Built for The Earl Brownlow. Red brick with some blue brick dressing, iron railings. Slate roof with remnants of a stack to the right gable.
T-plan, single storey, three bays.Three windows each with two cusped lights with lead lozenge glazing bars, wooden frames and segmental blue brick arch over. Suspended from the arch is a single central red brick inverted decorative triangle. The central window replaces the original doorway. To the left, set back, is a C20 porch, the doorway with segmental blue brick arch and wooden plank door. The right gable has an ashlar plaque inscribed "Erected by The Earl Brownlow 1823". The rear/north wall has a single four-light window under blue brick arch.
Extending 17 metres along the front and metres north and south is a low red brick wall surmounted by iron railings, broken by a gateway with similar iron gate. Included for group value only.
