Details

The following Buildings shall be added:-

CLIFTON UPON DUNSMORE LILBOURNE ROAD SP 57 NW 8/10006 Dunsmore House - II Large house now nursing home. Dated 1881. For Sir Joseph Muntz. Snecked rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings; red tile roof. 2 storeys and attic. Elongated range with principal rooms at east end and then an axial corridor with rooms off each side; service courtyard at west end enclosed by 1-storey buildings. Tudor-Gothic Revival style with various carved details. Quoins, plinth; continuous hoodmould and string course between floors, moulded eaves. Mullioned and transomed windows; moulded kneelers to roll-moulded gable copings with finials; multiple-flue stacks with truncated octagonal shafts. Entrance front: buttressed 1-storey porch with Tudor-arched door and small window to right; parapet. To right is a large 6-light stair-window with shields and carved vine-trail on mid-height panels which step up to left; traceried transom lights; moulded architrave. Above is a broad gable with transomed 3-light window whilst above porch is a traceried 2- light window and a gabled full dormer with apron shields to 3 light window. To left of porch a cusped 4-light window set beneath heraldic plaque with date and hoodmould with lozenge stops. Left corner has diagonal 2-storey bay window of 3 x 1 lights. To right of main staircase window is a 5-bay recess with irregular fenestration including the secondary staircase window; 2 full dormers; gabled projection on right. Garden front: approx 7 bays; gabled projections to bays 1 and 4 and another to bay 7 having 2-storey, 5 x 1 light bay window with shields on parapet. Left return: 1-storey curved bay window on left of projecting stack; another stack to right is flanked by diagonal bay windows (as seen from front). Right return: bastions flank a segmental archway with continuous hoodmould and finial under gablet; service courtyard within. Interior: impressive stair-hall with oak dado panelling, pilasters and Gothic style staircase; panelled ceiling. 3-bay wooden colonnade on landing now infilled; pierced coving. Fielded 6-panel doors with architraves and pediments. Sitting room in same style: the diagonal bay windows flank a heavily- carved wooden fireplace in C17 style.
