BIRMINGHAM TESSALL LANE SP 07 NW 16/10033 Water Tower at Hollymoor Hospital II Hospital Water Tower, 1905 by Martin and Martin of Birmingham,for the Borough of Birmingham Lunatic Asylum Committee of Visitors.Rad brick with ashlar sandstone and terracotta dressings, and with copper covered dome below a lantern.6-stage tower,square on plan with shallow clasping buttresses and a central pilaster to each wall face.2 tall slit windows to each stage on all walls, the windows separated by the central pilasters.5th stage with minature pediments as hoods to openings,6th stage with pairs of coupled lights with flat traceried heads.Ashlar bands between 5th and 6th stages. Projecting cornice separates 6th stage from parapet which has a segmental pediment to the centre of each face above the end of the central pilaster.Clasping buttresses terminate at terracotta ball finials.Copper covered stilted dome with octagonal lantern below ogee roof.
