2. The Hotel consists of two buildings: The Western portion is High Victorian, painted brick of three storeys and attic. Main block with rounded corners to front and recessed gabled bay of nearly equal width to West. The main block has elaborate brick eaves cornice of paired brackets with intricate diamond cut brick and rendered detailing. First floor dentil cornice again with diamond cut details and frieze of panels with leaf decoration in relief. Ground floor cornice has bands of Greek Key and dog tooth pattern. Ground floor has banded rustication and is raised on plinth. Paired round headed windows with deep voussoirs and Keystones, colonettes with foliate capitals in between. Centre window, originally doorway, has moulded arch with masque Keystone and recessed panels in spandrels with elaborate fruit carving. First floor windows also paired but with colonettes only to ones on rounded corners, the centre ones with segmental arches. Second floor windows are single with chamfered edges to moorish type rendered arches. The ground floor of recessed bay has round headed windows with moulded arches and masque Keystones. Marble columns flank the centre window and have heavy basket type capitals with fruit decoration. The windows on the first and second floors are paired and single, similar to those on main block some with rendered arches with incised detail. Three windows in attic of gable with common sill, flat arches and Keystones. The ground and first floor cornices of the main block are carried over. Ornate cast iron balcony to first floor of main block and second floor of recessed bay. Individual balconies of same style second floor of main block. Hipped slate roof to main block with two gabled dormers with pendant finials. Terrace behind them with similar cast iron balustrade to balconies.
The Eastern portion is circa 1830. Three storeys stucco faced. Two bows of two windows and third windows to centre. Main cornice and parapet. Second floor moulded sill course. First floor cornice and first floor sill course. Plinth. Windows recessed, sash, some glazing bars intact.
Nos 15 to 20 (consec) form a group.
