2. Circa 1840. Corner site with Castle Street. Three storeys coursed rubble with yellow brick dressings. George Street front: rendered parapet with raised centre panel with supporting scrolls, rendered cornice and frieze. Ground floor flanked by broad panelled piers, cornice and blocking course and above, two yellow brick pilasters with rendered Tuscan capitals flanking each side of first and second floor. Two windows, second floor, one narrow set between right hand pair of pilasters the other centred, both recessed later glazing bars, segmental brick arches. First floor: narrow window to right as above, and centred three light bay window, sash no glazing bars, plain strips, frieze and cornice, boarded apron. Ground floor has blind window in frame to left. Double panelled doors in centre, boarding to right. Plain frieze and cornice running between piers below main ground floor cornice. Recessed door in right hand pier of four moulded panels with rectangular fan- light. Castle Street front: also of coursed rubble with yellow brick dressings. High rendered parapet rendered string course. Five windows: three blind on second floor, two blind first floor, recessed, sash, glazing bars intact, block sills, flat brick arches. Ground floor altered by service bay, later window inserted with yellow brick dressings.
Nos 17 to 21 (odd) form a group.
