TQ 2779 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER RUTLAND GATE, SW7 (east side) TQ 2779 SW 95/33 86/33 30.1.87 Nos 23 to 42 (consec). GV II Row of houses. Mid C19. Stucco. Slate mansard roofs. Four storeys plus basement and mansard attics. Each house three windows wide. Channelling to ground floor. Projecting Doric porches. Windows square headed except to third floor where segmental. First floor windows grouped together beneath entablature and flanked by Corinthian half columns. Continuous cast iron balcony to first floor. Second floor windows corniced, the centre one to each house pedimented and windows balustraded. Sashes, plate glass. Dentil cornice simplified to some houses. Cast iron area railings, of neo-Grec design. Part of coherent scheme with 45, 46, 47 and 48-65 Rutland Gate (qv).
