TQ 2980 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER SACKVILLE STREET Wl 70/96 No 29 5.2.70 GV II* Terrace house. c. 1731 for William East, some early to mid C19 alterations. Brown brick, slate roof. 3 storeys, basement and dormered mansard. 3 windows wide. Architraved doorway to right with cornice on consoles. Recessed sash windows in architraves, no glazing bars. Moulded cornice over 2nd floor; parapet with coping. Wrought iron balconettes to windows. Wrought iron area railings. Interior has panelled hall with early C19 Grecian cornice, black and white paving. Timber staircase, open string in parallel flight and handrail ramped to columnar newels, marching dado; rear closet wing, doorcases etc; principal feature of interest on 1st floor is the Robert Adam 1770 plaster ceiling in the front room; the radial pattern has lost much of the filigree work and painting due to fire damage.
