WESTONBIRT WITH EASTON GREY ROAD ST 88 NE LASBOROUGH (west side) 10/187 Pickards Lodge and adjoining gatepiers GV II

Lodge and gatepiers to Westonbirt House (q.v.). Dated 1848 over door, probably by Lewis Vulliamy for Robert Stayner Holford. Small scale ashlar, stone slate roof with elaborate decorative barge boards, four single polygonal flues linked by decorative stonework on corners of small square 2-storey tower with corbel table. T shape with large projecting gable to north, single storey and attic. Gable has central projecting section and arched corner brackets carrying overhanging roof over cut-off corners, each with single light, with sculptured coat of arms between and 2- light stone mullion with square hoodmould above. Plank Tudor arch door set back to right. Small square bay with gable projecting towards road on set-back left side. Street facade has single small stone framed light with square hoodmould to tower upper storey with carved initial H above, 2 single lights on ground floor. Small central gable to south front. Two pairs of stone gatepiers, with wooden carriage gate and flanking pedestrian gates in X pattern, square with round headed vertical panels, and stepped pyramidal caps with ball finials.
