LANGAR CUM BARNSTONE CROPWELL BISHOP ROAD SK73SW (south side) 5/117 Bottom House 1.11.74 Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse. Early C18. Brick. Steeply-pitched, twin, plain-tile roof with dentil eaves cornice and gable copings on square kneelers. The central valley is higher than the eaves and contains the two stacks. Double-depth plan. Two storeys and garrets. Symmetrical 3-bay facade. Central door within trellis porch. A single sash window with glazing bars to each side with segmental head and keystone. Three smaller windows to 1st floor. A 3-course brick band between the floors is raised over the ground-floor openings. The side elevations have a single sash window with glazing bars to the front range ground and 1st floors, and smaller casements to the rear range and garrets. Brick bands between floors. The garret windows have brick hood moulds. Single-storey rear wing at 90° with pantile roof. Interior: archway in hall with keystone and impost blocks. Contemporary dog-leg stair with moulded handrail and later stick balusters. Several early doors some with 4 fielded panels and moulded architraves. Cheese- press in kitchen attached to wall. The rear wing is arcaded and contains fireplaces, flues, set pots etc.
