Details

LANGAR CUM BARNSTONE MAIN ROAD SK73NW (north side), Barnstone 2/121 The Manor House 25.9.79 - II House. C17 origin, altered with C18 and C19 additions. Blue lias limestone, coursed, the additions of brick. Slate roofs with brick pediment treatment to some gables. Various gable, ridge and lateral stacks with octagonal brick flues mainly paired. Double-depth main range with lower wing to left which has an addition at 90° at the rear. All 2 storeys. The main range is of 4 bays with an entrance to bay 2 in an added, gabled, stone porch. A single 3-light sliding sash window with glazing bars to left and two C20 3-light casements with glazing bars to right all with stone head and sill. Smaller similar windows to 1st floor plus a small single casement above the door. A straight joint between bays 3 and 4 may indicate rebuilding. The rear ranges have similar mainly 2-light and some 3-light casement windows with glazing bars in chamfered surrounds with stone heads. Interior: stop-chamfered beams in front, right room.
