Details
TQ 2981 SE CITY OF WESTMINSTER SOHO SQUARE, W1 58/7 23.11.78 No. 13 GV II* Terrace house. Immediately after 1677, rebuilt 1768-69, mid C19 alterations. Stucco faced, slate roof. 3 storeys and mansard attic. 3 windows wide. Ground floor has altered early to mid C19 shop front with display window, flanked by doorways with panelled and glazed doors and rectangular fanlights, fascia with dentil cornice and consoles and pendant festoons. Upper floors have recessed sashes with later C19 glazing in architraves with pediments on 1st floor. Cornice and parapet with balustrade of open work loops. Interior features of note include stone staircase of 1768-69 with delicate wrought iron balustrade and with top floor gallery to compartment under roof light with frieze of festoons and roundels; decorated plaster ceiling in rear 1st floor room which has canted bay out to rear; some panelling on 1st floor and various enriched modillion cornices, etc. From c.1677 spiral balusters and panelled newels have been recessed above basement stairs.
