BOXWELL WITH BOXWELL ROAD ST 89 SW LEIGHTERTON (west side) 1/6 Barn to north-west of Boxwell Farmhouse

GV II

Barn with attached stable and outbuilding. Early-mid C18. Random rubble limestone; ashlar quoins to porches; stone slate roof to barn; replacement tile to stable. Probably 9-bay barn with 2 porches on east side; stable and outbuilding attached at south end. East side: 2 projecting gabled porches each with timber lintel and C20 doors. Four slit vents, 2 between porches. Stone steps to loft over stable to left having single central casement to left of plank loft door; 2 stable doorways below, 1 blocked, the other with part glazed door, all having timber lintels. Lower attached outbuilding to left has doorway with small casement to left. Lean-to at north end. West side: no porches but doorways with timber lintels in positions corresponding with porches on east side; left doorway with plank doors, C20 sliding doors to right. Slit vents as to east. Interior not inspected. A long and imposing barn. Forms part of group with farmhouse and barn to north (q.v.).
