In the entry for TQ 2880 SW STANHOPE GATE, Wl 79/46 No 5 II GV The description shall be amended to read. Terraced two house. c.1760, refaced and heightened in c.1900-10. Portland stone, slate roof. Louis XV-Louis XVI details. 4 storeys, basement and dormered mansard. 4 windows wide. Entrance in 2nd bay from right and portico-porch of coupled Ionic columns. Channelled ground floor with recessed glazing bar sashes, the channelling struck to flat arches. The main 1st and 2nd floors have recessed sashes, those on 1st floor with cornices on consoles, articulated by giant order of fluted Ionic pilasters with wreathed capitals in the transitional Louis XV-Louis XVI manner, supporting deep entablature with modillion cornice over 2nd floor. Attic storey, with windows set in shallow panels, has cornice and blocking course. Cast iron balcony across 1st floor. Cast iron area railings. L.C.C. plaque commemorates residence of FitzRoy Somerset, Lord Raglan (the Crimean War C. in C.). Rebuilt behind facade in 1969-71, and in 1986/7.
