Details
GLASTON WING ROAD SK 8800-8900 7/53 10.11.55 Grange Farmhouse. GV II
House. Dated DT 1706 on plaque; rear wing added late C18-early C19 to form L-plan. Coursed limestone rubble with limestone quoins and dressings. C20 tile roof, coped gables with moulded kneelers, ashlar chimneys. Lobby entry plan. 2 storeys with ventilated attic and cellar, 3 bays. Chamfered plinth, limestone bands at sill and lintel levels. Ovolo-moulded mullion windows with cyma recta cornices and leaded glazing. Left bay has 3-light windows; right bay has 2-light windows; centre has 2-storey canted bay with 5-light windows and corbels for demolished gable. Blocked single light between right bays over C19 flush-panelled door with wooden cornice hood. Date plaque with cornice between right bays over blocked doorway. Gables have pairs of square chimney shafts with cornices; another single shaft between right bays. Left gable end has blocked single lights to left and right, without cornices, and small attic light with ventilation brick. Right gable end has irregular single lights and 2-light cellar window. Staircase projection to rear in line with central stack. C19 wing to rear of left bay, with single storey extension. Interior: centre bay has large fireplace with chamfered stone jambs, and stop-chamfered spine beam. C18 2-panel doors.
