Details

WEM RURAL C.P. COTON SJ 53 NW 2/136 Home Farmhouse - GV II Farmhouse. Early C17, eaves raised late C18 with later additions and alterations. Timber framed with painted brick infill and plinth; slate roof. Original 2-room baffle-entry plan with short C19 gabled addition to rear on left. 2 storeys. Framing: rectangular panels, 3 from cill to original wall-plate with more closely set posts and short straight tension brace to left; one square panel above original wall-plate to eaves. Original steep roof pitch with position of infilled window and V-struts from collar visible to left gable end. Early C20 multi- paned casements, one on each floor to either side of 4-panel door (top panels now glazed) under gabled hood. Tall C19 red brick ridge stack with recessed panels immediately to left of entrance. Interior: massive central stack with infilled inglenook fireplaces to ground-floor rooms, left of which has large deep-chamfered spine beams with straight-cut stops.
