TQ 65 NW OFFHAM CP SEVEN MILE LANE west side

5/28 Comp Corner Cottage II

House. Early C17, reclad in C19 with late C19 extension at east end to north. Timber-framed, clad in Tonbridge ironstone rubble, with first floor to south hung with plain tiles. Plain tiled hipped roof with brick stack to west end of ridge and second brick stack to east. Single-storey rubble stone wing to north-east with plain tiled gabled roof. Main range probably formerly of lobby-entry plan, aligned east-west. 2 storeys; irregular fenestration of 3 windows on first floor and on ground floor. West end with single window to right and boarded door to left of centre with tiled gabled hood. All windows casements with glazing bars. Interior: frame visible on first floor, probably underbuilt below. Ground-floor rooms have spine beams with chamfers with lambs tongue stops, all the beams in the western half of the sitting room being of this type. Queen post roof trusses visible on first floor.
