6/29 Pyrford Court GV II
Country house. c1910 by Clyde Young for Lord Iveagh with inter-war additions designed by the owner. Red brick in Neo-Carolean style with brick quoins hipped plain tiled roofs and stone coped stacks. 2 storeys and attic under wooden pedimented dormers. Main front: 8 bays, brick band over the ground floor, bracketed eaves; 5 dormers with alternating triangular and segmental pediments, glazing bar sash windows under gauged heads below; circular in the outer bays of the first floor. Centre window to first floor with flanking scrolls and floral carving, raised brick apron below. Central panelled door and transom light in fluted composite pilaster surround with open segmented pediment and floral carving. Single bay breaks at either end with similar doors in inner faces; 3 bay wings further projecting forward at ends. Interior addition in similar style to the right; 7 bays with central door in fluted composite columned portico with flat lead roof; garage extension to the right. Garden front in similar style with glazed conservatories to each end. Interior: Entrance hall with gallery across the rear wall and panelled ceiling. Panelled library with Gibbons style floral carvings. Main staircase with 3 arched Ionic screen across the bottom and internal Ionic cupola over the main flight.
