HARLAXTON SK8832 HIGH STREET 1315-0/14/201 Village Cross 24/09/79 (Formerly Listed as: THE GREEN Cross) GV II

Village Cross. C14 and early C19. Ashlar. Octagonal obelisk approx 2m high, set on C14 octagonal moulded pedestal and base of 2 steps. Possibly resited. This building is probably one of the architectural ornaments introduced to the village c1820-1840 by Gregory Gregory, Lord of the Manor of Harlaxton. (Rowlands G: Harlaxton Manor: Harlaxton: 1984-: 20-29; The Buildings of England: Pevsner N, Harris J & Antram N: Lincolnshire: London: 1964-1989: 362-363).
