Details
LYDDINGTON MAIN STREET SP 8697-8797 (west side) 8/99 10.11.55 No 111 (Hillcrest). GV II
House. Possibly C17 in origin, dated 1744 on plaque to front, raised and altered C20. Ironstone ashlar with Uppingham stone quoins, flush lintel band and projecting first floor band course. Welsh slate roof, 2 stone chimneys with blue brick caps. 2 storeys, 4 bays, the left bay at slight angle. C20 3-light wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars and stone sills, upper windows with wooden lintels. Small rectangular window with moulded surround to first floor left over wide board door. Third bay has C20 door in C17 moulded and stopped stone surround with 4-centred arch. Plaque above has chamfered cornice and date on lozenge. Garage extension to right. Rear wall is of rubble stone with inset carved stone heads. Left bay has stone window composed of chamfered mullions set into re-used sill and lintel intended for ovolo mullions. House suffered severe fire damage early C20 and has no surviving interior features.
