Details
The following building shall be added to the list:
RAMSDELL SHEEPWASH LANE SU 55 NE 4/12 Barn at Digweeds Farm GV II
Late C17/early C18 with aisles added in C19 when it may have been recon- structed. Barn. Timber frame with horizontal weather-board, corrugated iron roof, but plain tile to north aisle. An aisled in 5 bays with wet- back central midstrey on south sides; half-hipped ends. On south front lofty pair of plank doors to set-back midstrey. Small doors to west and north ends. Interior: has wide spaced thin posts on plate to spur brick walls, strolled to main tie and to aisle plate. Heavy queenpost braces to single main purlin, no ridge piece, mainly original rafters. To left of main doors a partition wall in English bond brickwork to plate level, framed and boarded above. The barn was substantially damaged in the October 1987 hurricane, but has been carefully repaired, and the interior framework is complete.
