Details
TQ 2980 SE and NE CITY OF WESTMINSTER SUFFOLK STREET, SWl 71/104 : 82/10 5.2.70 No 5 G.V. II* Terraced house. c1826 by G Ledwell Taylor as part of Nash's Suffolk Street-Suffolk Place development. Stucco, slate roof. 3 storeys, attic storey and basement. 2 windows wide. Channelled ground floor with channelling struck to semicircular arched openings: recessed panelled door with fanlight to left and recessed glazing bar sash window to right. Recessed glazing bar sashes, those on 1st and 2nd floors with architraves and the full length 1st floor ones with pediments on consoles. Block cornice over ground floor, main dentil cornice over 2nd floor and crowning cornice to attic. Bowed cast iron balconettes to 1st floor. Cast iron spear head area railings. The demolished No 4 was of the same design and Ledwell Taylor was probably introduced through his friendship with Edward Cresy who built No 6 for himself.
