Nos 33-37 (odd)

House, now 1 dwelling, 2 shops and store. Early C19 with mid C18 rear wing and C20 alterations. Magnesian limestone ashlar, Welsh and stone slate roofs. Double-depth plan, with rear extensions and additions. Classical style. Two storeys and 3 bays, symmetrical. Plinth; central doorway with moulded architrave and pediment on consoles, outer bays much altered by insertion of shop windows. 1st floor band; 4-pane sashes with moulded sills projecting from band to bays 1 and 3. Half-hipped roof with stacks behind ridge. Left return: wing to left is of earlier build with chamfered quoined doorway having weathered keystone on lintel; sashes with glazing bars above and to left. Interior: ¼-turn staircase to 1st landing with continuations from this to front and rear; open string, scrolled brackets, turned balusters (except upper flight to rear, which has been altered); 6-panel doors with central reed; right-hand ground-floor room has dentilled cornice and is said to have coved niche (now concealed). Former wooden panelling removed to museum. Rear wing has fielded-panel door and window seat and has splat-balustered staircase and panelled room divisions to upper floor.

House, now 2 shops. Early to mid C18; altered. Magnesian limestone ashlar, slate roof. Double-depth plan, with rear extensions and additions. Classical style. Two storeys and three bays, symmetrical; 1st-floor band; central doorway with moulded architrave and pediment on consoles, outer bays much altered by insertion of shop window at ground floor, but 1st floor has three 4-pane sashed windows, the outer with prominent moulded sills. Half-hipped roof, chimneys behind ridge. Left gable wall has doorway with chamfered surround; continuation to rear, of rubble, appears earlier.

Interior: 1/4-turn staircase to 1st landing, with continuations from this to front and rear, open string, scrolled brackets, turned balustars (except upper flight to rear, which has been altered); right-hand ground-floor room has dentilled cornice, and is said to have a coved niche (now concealed). Former wooden panelling removed to museum. A recognisable example of the period, despite alterations to ground-floor front.
