2/298 Hough Hall Farmhouse.
II
Farmhouse: dated 1691 with C19 and early C20 additions. English
garden wall bond orange brick, buff sandstone dressings. Welsh slate
roof and 5 brick chimneys. Original has 3-storey symmetrical 3-bay
east front. Stone quoins and moulded stone bands at 1st and 2nd
floor. End bays have tall chamfered 2-light stone mullioned windows
on ground and 1st storeys. Heavy moulded and rebated doorcase has
central carved shield on the lintel reading DEM 1691. Above is a
circular light in a square stone surround and a similar 2-light stone
mullioned window in top storey. Later extensions to right and left in
brick. Rear is roughcast but has further stone-mullioned and a
Venetian-style window.
Interior: 2 original bead moulded ceiling beams. Remainder,
including wainscotting and flat baluster stairs, of early C20.
