Details
WATER NEWTON OLD GREAT NORTH ROAD TL 1097 (North Side) 12/166 Nos. 6-16 (evens inclusive) (Hall Cottages) GV II Row of five cottages formerly outbuildings to The Hall (demolished c.1730). Possibly late C17 with C18 and early C19 alteration. Coursed limestone rubble with plain ashlar buttressing in line with chimney stacks. Two end stacks and five ridge stacks, end stack to left hand of ashlar, remaining stacks of brick. Collyweston stone slated roof. Two storeys with gabled rear wing. Parapet gables. Six C20 doors one to right hand with porched entrance; nine ground floor windows of various sizes with glazing bars, eight similar first floor casement windows all with brick arches, doorways in round headed brick arches. The former building was converted to farm labourers cottages in the early C19.
