UPPER SLAUGHTER SP 12 SW & SP 12 SE 5/215, 6/215 Farmbuildings and walls framing quadruple foldyard - 40 yards north of Manor Farmhouse GV II
Paired double foldyards framed by barns, stables and storage buildings. c.1910. Architect said to be "Mr Gray of London" for H A Brassey the railway millionaire. Rubble with Cotswold stone roofs. Fine symmetrical E-plan composition with projecting cross-wings, from main ranges forming subsidiary yards with closing walls to south. Classicizing style with Cotswold elements such as mullion windows. The north-south ranges are slightly lower allowing lunette windows to gables of cross-wings; lunette windows in the other gable ends too. The north range has central louvred cupola, barn to left and 3 large and 3 small gables to right with 2 segmental and one arched entry; 3 openings under steel lintels to right. South gable return has tablet with "B(rassey)" over "1910".
