ASHFORD ROAD 1. 5278 (South Side) Turkey court (Formerly listed as 30.7.51. Turkey Mill (house)) TQ 7655 NE 9/90 II* GV 2 This is the private house adjoining the Turkey Mill and formerly was the private house of the millowner including James and Susanna Whatman. Large Mid C18 home. 2 parallel ranges. 3 storeys and semi-basement red brick and grey leaders. Hipped tiled roof with moulded wooden eaves cornice. 5 sashes with segmental heads and glazing bars intact. Doorcase up 6 steps with handrail, the doorcase having fluted pilasters, a curved pediment and door half glazed and the other half consisting of 2 fielded panels. To the west is a later C18 extension of 2 storeys and semi-basement with tall windows iron balconettes on the 1st floor and parapet to the roof. To the east is an early to mid C19 wing in matching style, 3 storeys red brick with 3 cambered sashes and 1 blank to the rear elevation. The central portion contains an C18 staircase with 3 turned balusters to each tread and scrolled tread ends. C18 panelling.

Turkey Court, former Drying Loft at Turkey Mills and Industrial Building adjoining former Drying Loft at Turkey Mill to the west form a group.
