Commercial and works premises. Dated 1873 by S.J. Nicholl for Cox and Sons, church furniture and stained glass manufacturers. Red brick with stone dressings, slate roof. High Victorian Gothic with "flamboyant" details but functionally designed for the buildings's purpose.
Four tall storeys and two tier attic. Two major bays wide, that to left a double bay. Entrance in single bay recessed up steps with ribbed "Tudor" surround and curved corners to lintel, decorated spandrels. The double bay on ground floor has a pair of large cast iron mullion and transom display windows. The first and second floor windows are vertically grouped in slightly recessed panels with three-light transomed pairs of casements to double bay and panelled and glazed former hoist doors to single bay above entrance all with curve cornered lintels and with the panels finished off and linked by stone flattened ogee drip moulds and carved stops and finials. Third floor windows set in toothed brick corbelled lintel panel. Arcaded corbelling to parapet with shed lights to attic workshops flanked by two storey gabled stone and brick dormers. Cast iron Gothic cresting rail over shed lights. Fine cast iron Gothic rainwater head inscribed with date.
There is a wall-mounted Grosvenor gas lantern to the Maiden Lane elevation with decorative scrollwork to the bracket.
