Memorial statue. 1867 by J. H. Foley. Bronze standing portrait on granite
pedestal of the Secretary-at-War, army reformer and friend and supporter of
Florence Nightingale. With the statue of Florence Nightingale q. v., a
subsidiary part of the Guards Crimean War Memorial q. v. composition on island
site in centre of road.
